NJ Cannabis Business Development (CBD) Application

Welcome to the Cannabis Equity Grant Program application portal.

Please be advised that based on significant interest in the Cannabis Business Development (CBD) Grant Program, the NJEDA has already received applications up to or exceeding the amount of funding available under this program. Any applications received from this point forward are being placed on a waitlist until such time as it can be determined that there is funding available to support your application.
 

This one-time reimbursement grant of $75,000 is designed to help licensed cannabis businesses in New Jersey offset state and local compliance as well as early-stage operational costs. The goal is to reduce financial barriers and support equitable participation in the industry. To be eligible, applicants must hold a current and valid annual license digital card issued by the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission’s Office of Licensing in one of the following classes: Class 1 (Retailer), Class 2 (Manufacturer), Class 5 (Cultivator), or Class 7 (Testing Laboratory). Multi-state operators and medicinal-only licenses are not eligible. Applicants must also submit at least $75,000 in eligible expenses with full supporting documentation.

A Note About Your Application Fee:

To be complete, all applications must be accompanied by an application fee, and applications will be reviewed in the order completed applications are received.  

When funding for the program is fully subscribed, the application will still remain open, and applicants can continue submitting applications, which will be placed in a queue and reviewed if additional funding becomes available. Applicants must pay the application fee to be placed in the queue of applications that will be reviewed if funding is available. Until such time as funding is available, applications received while the program is oversubscribed will have their fee held in EDA’s escrow account without interest. Application fees for such applicants will be returned if an applicant submits a written request to withdraw their application.
 
In addition:

•  Once the Authority begins to review an application that was previously submitted while the program was oversubscribed, the fee will become non-refundable and the Authority will process the fee. 
•  If the Authority receives additional funding for the Program, a corresponding number of applications will be reviewed and their application fees will become non-refundable.  
•  Once the Program ends, all remaining applicants in the queue, for which there is no available funding, will have their fees returned.
